The Columbia Basin Conservation District (CBCD) was honored to participate in the Grant County LEAD Summit last week, hosted by the Grant County Economic Development Council. This event brought together community leaders, industry experts, and stakeholders to explore critical topics shaping the future of Grant County.

CBCD was proud to contribute to the panel discussion Water in Grant County: Balancing Resources, Growth, & Sustainability. Our Executive Director, Kristina Ribellia, joined Jamie Short (Department of Ecology), Marc Maynard (U.S. Bureau of Reclamation), and Eric Weber (Landau Associates) for a thoughtful discussion moderated by Katherine Taiclet, Chair of the GCEDC Board.

During the panel, Kristina highlighted CBCD’s essential programs and their role in supporting sustainable water use and conservation in our region, including:
Moses Lake Watershed Council, improving water quality and ecosystem health in the watershed.
Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program, mitigating critical groundwater shortages with innovative water delivery solutions.
Mobile Drip Irrigation Cost-Share Program, helping local producers adopt water-efficient irrigation systems.
Heritage Garden Program, encouraging the use of native and drought-tolerant plants to reduce water consumption.
Columbia Basin Sustainable Water Coalition, building partnerships to address long-term water resource challenges.
Groundwater Monitoring Program, providing vital data for informed water management decisions.
